1. Q: How do I play an item?
Click on the item name and the Casgle player will open up and play the item. Note: the Casgle player uses a VLC plug-in. If the VLC plug-in is not currently installed on your computer a pop-up window will ask you to install it. Click on the Help icon in the viewer and follow the instructions for installing VLC. 3. Q: What does the green pickle icon mean in the channel list?

4. Q: What does the icon mean?
Clicking on the icon will collapse all the expanded channel lists. Top |
5. Q: What does the icon mean?
The icon means the Server status is connected and active. Top |

9. Q: What is the New Channel?
The New Channel shows you every episode that has dowloaded in the past 24 hours from each of the channels you currently subscribe to. Top |
10. Q: How can I tell what type of content each item is?
You will see one of three icons in front of the item name to represent audio, video or photo.

12. Q: How do I download content to my computer?
Your NAS box will automatically download content to folders within its directory. If you wish to move content from your NAS to your computer, follow the steps in your NAS owners manual to find the NAS directory (usually under Public/Casgle) and then copy and paste or drag and drop the files into the preferred folder on your computer. 13. Q: How do I play all the items in the channel?
Click the PLAY icon besides the channel name. Top |
14. Q: Why does the subscription page go away?

15. Q: Where can I get the VLC player to play the video?
Go to http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ and follow the directions there. Top |
16. Q: Where should I go to start the PC User Interface?
Follow the steps in your NAS owners manual to find the NAS directory (usually under Public/Casgle) and then click on “casgle_player.html”. Top |
17. Q: Can I add new channel to the NAS by using the PC User Interface?
Yes. Simply follow the steps in FAQ #2. Top |
18. Q: Why do some videos of the channel disappear a few days after they had been downloaded?
The Casgle service has default settings for the number of episodes and total storage space on your NAS that it will use. So some older content will be automaticaly deleted to make space for newer content. If you wish to save any particular content permanently, follow the steps in FAQ #11. Top |
19. Q: Why are some episodes listed in italics?
If you see an item in italics, this means that the download for that episode hasn’t begun yet. Top |

21. Q: What are the benefits of using the Casgle Player?
Although you could browse the directory of your NAS and play files individually, only the Casgle Player organizes all of your content and allows you to subscribe and unsubscribe to your channels. Top |
22. Q: If my friends also love the features of Casgle Service, what can they do?
Tell them to purchase Casgle enabled devices and enjoy all the content delivered by the Casgle Service. Top |
23. Q: I use Windows Vista and am experiencing some issues viewing video. What can I do?

The VLC Player supports more media formats, by far, than any other player, which is why it is the recommended player for Casgle. If you are using the Windows Vista OS, some known issues with Vista may cause difficulty with the VLC Player's video output, but following the steps below to change the Default setting should resolve the issue. Note that the Default setting should only be changed if you are already experiencing difficulties. 1) Open the VLC Player 2) Click the Settings drop-down menu and select Preferences,which takes you to the following view:
3) Expand the Video directory (click on the +) and then select Output modules, and then in the bottom right corner check Advanced options, which
4) Click on the drop down list in the top right, which initially shows "Default" and select either "Windows GDI" (shown below) or "DirectX"
If neither Windows GDI nor DirectX video output solves the problem you can try one of the other settings such as Dummy video output function. Top |
