1. Q: What is podcast?

From wikipedia: Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs, over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The term as originally coined by Ben Hammersley in an article in the Guardian on February 12, 2004 [1], was meant as a portmanteau of "broadcasting" and "iPod". Top

2. Q:Why is the CONTENT LED not on?

The PMP (portable media player) ID will be reserved in PodDeus and CONTENT LED will turn on when there is new content for this PMP. If you expect CONTENT to be on but it does not, most likely someone else docked their PMP into the PodDeus before you. Top

3. Q:The Content Light indicates that something has been downloaded, but there was no new playlist on the PMP when the content light stopped flashing.

1) Not enough storage left on the device. Simply erase other files in your portable device and dock it into PodDeus again.

2) If the user did not connect or shut down the device appropriately, it may cause a file system corruption. In order to recover the device, simply reformat it on your computer.

3) This can also be the result of incompatible portable media players. Please send your PMP’s model number to our support team.

4) The playlist may not exist due to iPod’s database issue. The files may be under Music->Songs. Top

4. Q: Some episodes were not deleted after listening, even though it is configured to do so.

PMP: iPod .

The iPod playlist does not show up (or only a very small portion of the episodes showed up in the playlist).

Check to see if all your content can be accessed through Music->Songs or Video->Movies.

You can reformat the device so that PodDeus will rebuild the playlist and your content. Otherwise, you can remove the episodes directly in iTunes.

PMP: other types.

PodDeus will auto-manage the storage and content. Even if you listened to the content and deleted the files manually, they would not be deleted if there was still enough storage capacity. The old content will be deleted when new content comes in and there is not enough capacity for the new content.

The user can log in www.casgle.com to unsubscribe the channel, then the content belonging to this channel will be deleted in the user’s PMP. Top

5. Q: After users dock PMP into the PodDeus, the USB light does not come up.

Please make sure you enable the device to be UMS mode. For example, on iRiver H10, do a reset on the device (or remove the battery), connect to the PodDeus, then hold on to the &O* button while turning on the device. This will enable the UMS mode.

Other devices will have different methods to enable UMS. Please check on your device’s manual.Top

6. Q: After users dock PMP into the PodDeus, the USB light does not become solid for more than 2 min.

This most likely signifies the device has not been setup. Please follow the instruction in the PodDeus manual.

In an unlikely event that the device’s storage has an issue, simply reformat the device using the software that came with the PMP or using your computer’s operating system tool. However, the data will be lost (any Casgle data will re-populate after connecting back to the PodDeus) if you did not store a backup copy of your contents. Top

On non-iPod devices, please browse to the directory you have subscribed on Casgle's web site to access the files. Playlist support will be added in future releases.

On iPod devices with > 1,500 songs/items, it is not recommended to use the podcast link beta at this time. This is due to the fact that it will be very slow in updating the database. It is highly recommended that for beta-trial; please use an empty portable media player.

On certain iPods (Mac) we have seen that it cannot be used when it is shipped directly from Factory. Please reformat the device using iTunes (Restore to factory) and it will allow the PodDeus to access the device after it is reformatted. (If desired, you can format the iPod in Microsoft Windows. Doing so will enable dual use for your iPod). You will see the USB light blinking slowly but never settle to be solid. Top
